Tina Paulk has been consistently volunteering with Arlington Charities for around three years and on and off before that. The naturally friendly and bubbly Tina is a people person by heart and even pursued a sociology degree in college to explore her love of people further. At Arlington Charities, Tina delights in working closely with clients and getting to know them on a personal level. Tina asserts that she simply, “loves being here.”

Outside of Arlington Charities Tina is very involved with her family and simply cannot gush enough about their accomplishments. Her son is a pastor who used to work in broadcasting and has even wired the Dolby Theatre for the Oscar’s several times. Tina’s daughter-in-law is an accomplished kitchen and bathroom designer. Prior to retiring, Tina was a dedicated early childhood specialist for 43 years. She licensed two buildings in Grand Prairie which focused on the cognitive and behavioral development of infants through four year old’s.

Tina would definitely recommend volunteering at Arlington Charities to others. In fact, she is constantly advocating for the charity all the time to the point where people are like “don’t tell us any more about Arlington Charities.”

Terry Doak has been volunteering with Arlington Charities for seven years. She has always worked in the pantry and her favorite part is interacting with the clients. During our Thanksgiving and Christmas distributions, she loves interviewing clients about their situation and having such a positive impact on their holidays. Outside of Arlington Charities, Terry works with First United Methodist Church’s Genesis Sunday School class. For five years Terry has worked with the class to collect donations of toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, and dish soap. Every month, these donations are gifted to Arlington Charities to stock our pantry. Hygiene items are very popular at Arlington Charities; however, most of our community partnerships are food based so they are not as well stocked. Efforts such as Terry’s go a long way to keeping these items in our pantry and we could not be more grateful.

Terry is most inspired by the “quality and quantity of donations that are given to clients.” She asserts that Arlington Charities is by far “the best charity she’s ever worked with.” Terry is always quick to tell her community about Arlington Charities and recruit more volunteers. “People that volunteer up here have such giving hearts and there is an immediate gratification from helping” she concludes confidently.

Richanda Hall has come to Arlington Charities on and off. Most recently, she started coming again after losing a job in December. She asserts that “everybody is very nice and helpful, and I feel very comfortable coming here.” As someone who suffers from PTSD and depression, Richanda often is on the lookout for ways “to see the good in the world when there is so much bad.” She has found a nugget of good at Arlington Charities. “There are good people here and a community coming together to do good. Volunteers always exceed expectations and give great suggestions for food” says Richanda. She appreciates the simple and non-invasive process of setting up appointments.

Outside of Arlington Charities, Richanda explores a variety of interests. She recently has become obsessed with people who conver vans, school-buses, and ambulances into functional mobile homes and hopes to one day try this eclectic hobby herself. Richanda has also taken up meditation to learn to combat her depression. In the future, she hopes to go to school for I.T. but until then she is very excited to have recently landed a new job in customer support. “I think I might not even have to come back to the pantry in March,” Richanda declared excitedly.
