Social Media/Marketing Assistant

Reporting to and in partnership with the CEO/Executive Director and Marketing coordinator, the Social Media/Marketing assistant will develop a robust social media and email marketing campaign that is engaging and ultimately increases organizational support. This position may work closely with non-profit organizations, community partners, media, and government agencies to promote food insecurity programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns.

  • Create weekly and monthly editorial calendars to promote organization on various social media.

  • Create and distribute content such as blogs, infographics, videos and press releases on social media and traditional news outlets.

  • Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability.

  • Support marketing team at live and online events/photo/video content shoots.

  • Perform social media marketing research.

  • Respond to comments and DMs on social media platforms.

  • Brainstorm and research ideas for original content.

  • Create compelling graphics to share across social channels.

  • Write social media captions that speak to target audience.

  • Help create and edit short-form videos.

  • Develop new strategies for increasing engagement.

  • Ensure brand message is consistent.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or significant course work in digital communications or related field such as advertising or Journalism.

  • 1 - 2 years’ experience in digital marketing/social media marketing preferred.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent internet research skills.

  • Mastery of the major social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Tiktok, Pinterest, Snap and Google+ .

  • Knowledge of social media analytics software including Facebook Insights, Google Analytics and other analytics to track audience engagement and campaign performance.

  • Experience with content management systems, word processor applications and image/video editing software.

Facility hours are Mon – Thur 8:30-2:00. Position requires 10-12 hr/week with flexibility to arrange hours within that range. Occasional off hours supporting special events and community activities.
