​​In 1978, members of the Arlington Ministerial Alliance decided that Arlington’s food insecurity issues needed to be addressed. Initially, volunteers collected food and distributed it out of car trunks. However, the demand was overwhelming. As a result, Arlington Charities was organized as a nonprofit in 1979.

​

Arlington Charities is one of the oldest social service organizations in the city, and Arlington’s largest provider of supplemental food for people in need.

​

Arlington Charities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization helping to stabilize families, individuals, and the unhoused in Arlington.
